Creating SteelAsia’s HR Blueprint
By Eljoie Fontanilla, Human Resources Department
Recognizing human capital as one of the key drivers of business success, SteelAsia’s HR had an Alignment Meeting on 29-30 January 2016 at the F1 Hotel. A total of 14 participants (from Corporate and Plant HR), under the leadership of the new Vice President for Human Resources, Mildred Umali, were in attendance.
Objectives of the two-day event were (1) To understand SteelAsia’s business imperatives and its implications to human resources; (2) to imbibe company core values and reflect these in day to day operations; (3) to assess HR’s management and operations and identify specific actions plans to create an HR blueprint; (4) to cascade HR strategies to plant level, including quick wins (statutory benefits processing, HR transaction signatories); (5) to apply a Performance Management System approach to Performance Evaluation/Appraisal; and, (6) to introduce and implement the new online performance appraisal system.
All these were tackled through discussions, brainstorming and workshops, with fun games and icebreakers in between.
May Sheine Abao presented the CDO Works HR SWOT analysis.
