Leading steel manufacturing technology provider Danieli of Italy has been contracted by SteelAsia to erect up what will be one of the largest and most modern rebar rolling mills in the world.
Danieli’s scope is to provide the design, engineering and supply of all the core equipment of the project. The project will also be supported by one of the largest engineering companies in the world, Baosteel Engineering of China.
Including ancillary equipment, equipment installation and construction, the total project investment is anticipated to be USD 140 million. Once operational in 2016, the facility will produce rebar, the most vital component of construction, and will supply the capital, as well as the Central Luzon plain and Northern Luzon regions.
The mill will avert a coming shortage expected from high demand for steel due to a growing number of construction projects in the backlogged sectors of infrastructure, power, BPO office space and housing.
