Assistant Plant Manager - Melt Shop

The Assistant Plant Manager helps the Plant Manager in the overall operations of the Melt Shop plant to meet the company’s targets in productivity, quality, cost, safety and environment. The main role entails leading, developing and motivating the team members to run an efficient plant operation and overcome all technical and non-technical challenges to achieve the plant’s targets while inculcating the company’s core values among the team members.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure good coordination amongst all Melt Shop employees to achieve all the targets of the plant and the company

  • Set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound) targets for the Melt Shop plant and team members

  • Lead and drive continuous improvement action plans in the plant on productivity, quality, cost, safety and environment

  • Lead and drive yield improvement and plant delay reduction initiatives

  • Lead and drive the capability improvement of Melt Shop team members

  • Coach, guide and motivate direct/indirect reports to strengthen their personal effectiveness

  • Delegate and empower direct/indirect reports to increase overall team effectiveness

  • Evaluate talent pool and recruit appropriate external talents to strengthen the Melt Shop team

  • Evaluate new materials, equipment or technologies for suitable application in the Melt Shop plant and execute the plans to implement them in the operations

  • Prepare annual budget for approval by top management and ensure that the plant costs are managed well within the approved budget

  • Ensure effective implementation of the company’s Health, Safety and Environment policy

  • Review safety incident reports and ensure plant-wide implementation of all corrective and preventive action plans

  • Review all Melt Shop reports before they are finalized for submission to Senior Management

  • Perform other related tasks assigned from time to time

Qualification/s:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • Registered Engineer is an advantage

  • More than 10 years of experience in EAF Melt Shop

  • Minimum 5 years in plant operation leadership position

  • Good knowledge in steel making

  • Excellent understanding of Melt Shop costing

  • Collaborative leadership style

  • Strong technical problem solver and people motivator

  • Action-oriented and resourceful

  • Expertise in cost and productivity improvement

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Promoter for Quality, Health, Safety and Environment

  • Able to work at the plant in Calaca, Batangas

  • Able to travel whenever necessary
