EHS Manager
The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will lead the ESH department within the SteelAsia Group. He or She will play a leadership role in designing and implementing EHS programs, compliance strategies and sustainable management systems through effective communication or planning with management and employees, including ongoing dialogue, coaching and reinforcement as needed. The ESH Manager directly reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Main Responsibilities:
Serve as key person in developing the company’s ESH strategic direction, establishing priorities andallocating resources
Manage internal and external compliance assurance activity to be certain of company adherence to EHS legal requirements, through audits and identifying and overseeing needed preventive and corrective action steps
Acts as a champion for building a “culture of safety” across the organization
Analyze and interpret environmental, health and safety regulatory policy impacts through written information, interface with government officials, and technical knowledge of plant operations
Oversee effective and sustainable systems for assuring compliance with applicable EHS laws are critical for preventing potentially severe penalties (civil and criminal) for non-compliance and for preventing harm to humans and the environment
Work with Human Resources to hire, train, develop, and appraise ESH employees effectively; Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy
Influence all employees to report environment, safety and health issues to authorized personnel to initiate immediate preventive and corrective actions
Assume other important related responsibilities as designated by the top management
Qualification/s:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or related discipline; Advanced degree related to ESH a plus
Minimum 10 years’ experience fulfilling ESH function preferably in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years of this in a management role
In-depth understanding of Environment, Safety and Health laws and regulations, and related certification schemes and regulatory requirements
Strong knowledge and experience in management systems especially ISO 14001 and ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001; Management system auditor certification preferred
Significant experience in 5S/6S, LEAN manufacturing, Six-Sigma, manufacturing process safety controls and systems preferred
Established leader who can demonstrate his or her ability to lead cultural change and implement sustainable ESH Management in support of a manufacturing operation
Able to work at the Head Office, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City as work base
Able to travel to the companies' plants, offices and sites whenever necessary
