Skills upgrade for the Plaridel community launched

10/27/2014:
Starting October 27, a Skills Upgrade Program was conducted for the Plaridel community. A total of 104 participants from Barnagay Parulan and Poblacion attended this continuing activity, which qualifies attendees, who are mostly inadequately educated, for various positions of employment within the company. Through the on-the-job training, members of the community experienced first-hand conditions within an operating rolling mill.

SteelAsia seeks zero-tariff on billets

The country’s largest maker of reinforcing steel bars, or rebars, has asked the government to reduce to zero percent the tariff on imported semi-processed billets bought from non-Asean countries to level the playing field with other producers in Southeast Asia.
BOI Approves incentives for 2 Steelasia projects

08/14/2014:
The Board of Investments (BOI) approved SteelAsia applications for tax incentives.
The first of the separate applications was for the expansion of capacity of SteelAsia’s Calaca Works to 475,000 tons per year. Its highest attained capacity prior to the application was 398,000 tons. The expansion includes the installation of additional and upgrades of both mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as automation upgrades.
