Starting October 27, a Skills Upgrade Program was conducted for the Plaridel community. A total of 104 participants from Barnagay Parulan and Poblacion attended this continuing activity, which qualifies attendees, who are mostly inadequately educated, for various positions of employment within the company. Through the on-the-job training, members of the community experienced first-hand conditions within an operating rolling mill.
Graduates of the courses are TESDA Certified for Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Crane and Fork Lift Operations, Machining, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Front Office Services and certified by SteelAsia for Basic Rolling Mill Orientation and Safety Practices and on-the-job training at SteelAsia’s Meycauayan Works rolling mill.
SteelAsia provides the training free of charge and includes free transportation to training sites, meals and an allowance during the conduction of any course in the program.
